BEUMER Group was commissioned by the Cooperativa La Cruz Azul, headquartered in Mexico City, to supply 14 high-capacity palletizers in response to new legal requirements.
Cruz Azul, required to change its production from 50 to 25-kg bags at the beginning of 2023, must handle twice the amount of bags while maintaining the same capacity. What has been partly implemented in Europe and the United States for decades is now coming into effect in Mexico. To meet the logistical challenge, Cruz Azul chose to rely on BEUMER’s high-quality system solutions and an extensive customer support network.
Cruz Azul and BEUMER Group have had a trusting and successful partnership for decades. BEUMER’s highly developed and sustainable technology as well as sophisticated concept will enable the cement manufacturer to achieve the required performance in its packaging terminal.
The operation’s anticipated performance must be able to bag, palletize and pack twice the quantity of cement bags in the future while maintaining the same production capacity. For example: with a total tonnage of 150 tph, 6,000 bags currently require more than 90 pallets. A pallet must be handled every 40 seconds. One BEUMER system achieves an output of 5,500 to 6,000 bags per hour.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was not possible for BEUMER experts to be on site with the customer in person. All concept collaborations were completed online and with the support of the local group company in Mexico City. Despite the tight supply situation, BEUMER plans to deliver the first five palletizers in the fourth quarter of 2022. The other nine machines will follow by 2023.
